I produced and directed the ‘1970s’ episode of this popular returning BBC2 living history format. Working within 4 weeks to script the episode, finding plenty of nostalgia trips for our time-travelling family and the audience, as well as working out how to tell the big history narrative of the episode – the relentless rise of the supermarket and how shops adapted to stay in business as the world changed around them. Working with a large team including art and costume departments, my producer, archive and history researchers and runners, I devised original narrative arcs and storylines for contributors and talent, directed the family, contributors and talent/celebrity guests on location, and edit-produced the film for channel sign off in 8 weeks.
