Amy Dowden’s Dare To Dance

I series produced and directed this brand-new 4×30 series for BBC Wales following ordinary people who have never danced before learning a unique routine to perform for very special occasions in their lives, guided by Strictly pro Amy Dowden. I oversaw all editorial, constructing the format as we went, running the casting process to find our characters with layered personal stories ensuring each episode packed an emotional punch. I managed a team of casting producer, AP, shooting PDs and worked closely with the Executive Producer and Commissioner to deliver a factual entertainment series with an observational documentary approach. I worked closely producing our talent Amy, a seasoned dance pro tackling her first series presenter role, helping her land a natural, warm delivery while also driving the narrative of each episode. I directed all episodes which culminated in complex multi camera dance day shoots involving a large crew including lighting, DOP, sound, audiences, talent, contributors in ‘real world’ events, as well as getting our main contributors to open themselves up during sensitive master interviews and all presenter-led actuality. I edit produced the series including all finishing post – voice over records with Amy, grade and onlines, GFX, dub and final mixes.
