I originated, produced and directed this 1×60′ documentary for BBC4 looking at the cultural, social and stylistic impact that the changing shape of our docks had on Britain during the 20th century. The film featured directed interviews with contributors sharing their personal stories and engaging archive footage as well as bespoke graphics and narration by actress Sue Johnston. I was responsible for the initial development of the idea, scripting and directing PSC throughout production and edit-producing across the 4 week offline edit, commentary record, dubbing and online edit.
“a beautifully wrought evocation of a time when Britain’s dockland districts had actual docks, rather than boutique apartment blocks” Guardian Guide
“a richly evocative slice of social history” Radio Times
“★★★★ Balanced, astute, and somehow nostalgic and hopeful for the future” The Times
